Where's the Beef? \_ I'd rather vote for Bush. \_ see archives about being kicked in the nuts. \_ We have archives? Where? \_ /tmp/nut-kicking-for-goodness.txt \_ damn you censoring nazi bastards \_ let me guess, you're a Feinstein supporter |

11/6 http://Yahoo.com deemed Dianne Feinstein the Senator most likely to censor the internet. \_ why? \_ why not? \_ my cat ate a bird and then puked it up on my bed \_ where on Yahoo!? \_ Cuz she's a nut. She has a concealed carry weapons license and tries to take it away from everyone else. She has no clue about guns and has done a great job in making sure the criminals are the only ones with guns. \_ She already tried - she's introduced bills to ban sites that provide instructions on making bombs and upgrading non-automatic weapons to full automatics. |

11/6 The Simpson's area code is 636. Springfield, Missouri. \_ How many Simpsons characters do you see here? (some off the map too) http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?BFCat=&Pyt=Tmap&newFL=Use+Address+Below&addr=flanders&csz=portland%2C+or&country=us&Get%A0Map=Get+Map \_ really? they gave that out in an episode? i dont think thats \_ The whole episode last night was about the area code... So yes, they did give it out in an episode, and not subtly either. the whole story. i wa;lways got the impression they were in new england, since they were able to easily drive to new york city for a weekend. also there were some references to certain east coast schools that seemed like they were not so far from springfield. also there is no indication in the show of sourthern weather....i dont buy it. it's a trick by groening to throw avid viewers off. \_ Missouri is considered more Midwest than South. \_ you're dumb. \_ yes, very dumb. your punishement for this crime is to live in st. louis until you realize how fucking ass-backwards southern it is, and beg to return to the real world. Missouri was part of the confederacy, and if you spend any time there you will understand that it sucks ass. \_ Throw avid viewers off what? Trying to find "the real hometown" \_ Groening has said before that Springfield is a generic suburb, the name chosen simply because there are so many Springfields.. maybe the area code was just sloppy writing. \_ someone once told me he was making fun of Springfield, Oregon.. Since he went to UO and nearby Springfield is pretty bass ackwards. \_ http://www.snpp.com has a whole dissertation on Springfield (scroll halfway down the FAQ section) \_ no he didn't, he went to Evergreen in Olympia, WA |

11/6 I've heard that RedHat has an automated update agent similar to Debian. Is the RH update agent free? If so where do I get it. If it isn't free, how much does it cost? Thanks. \_ Why do you want to pay for Red Hat's service when you're familiar with Debian's? I also have the impression that RHSN just applies updates that RedHat issues to fix bugs/holes... I don't think it does anything like what apt does under Debian (which keeps all packages up to date whether broken or not, among other things). Is that true? \_ The agent is free but the subscription service is not. \_ well no DUH! Internet is free, but the subscription isn't Cable TV is free, but the subscription isn't \_ Not even close Telephone is free, but the subscription isn't \_ Only for cell phones Berkeley is free, but the tuition isn't. \_ Tuition is free at Berkeley for in-state students. What you pay are "non-tuition campus fees". Stupid oxymoron \_ tom that you? |

11/6 Wedding gift ideas under $200. Unique but not weird. Help? \_ Race of the couple? White? Asian? Mixed? Whitewashed Asian? \_ White, East Coastian \_ uh-oh, picky white people. NG. \_ Is that New Englander, New Yorker, Mid-Atlantic or what? \_ if they have a registry, just look at the registry. (yes, it is not unique, but at least they get what they asked for) \_ The most annoying gifts are the "unique but not weird" gifts. Why would you do this? \_ I agree. Just buy something off their registry. You're helping the newlywed couple to start off their lives with some gifts of necessity, not some gift that may amuse you. \_ The registry is really only for people who don't know the couple well. If you're close, you should buy them something real. -tom \_ though it helps to keep the couple from receving three KitchenAid Mixers. --Jon \_ Go to Gump's. Or get them a gift certificate to a day spa. \_ Thanks. This seems to have what I was after. \_ you're welcome. i have had some good luck there finding unusual but tasteful gifts. --chris \_ Cash, the Asian way. Asians HATE gifts, they know gifts are cheap (you know, vase, glassware, etc) \- by "asian" do you mean chinese/oriental? indians prefer gold. --psb \_ Speak for yourself. Indians prefer cash, gold is not sufficiently convertible. \_ oriental is not PC when referring to people. It's just as bad as using Asian. (South)East Asian is more proper. \_ Yes, give GOLD for their wedding. \_ If Asian, you must give 18K gold, otherwise it's just as bad. \_ 18K gold will get you spit on. 22K or higher only. \_ 22K weights a tons and are two soft. \_ 18K is to impure to use as a convertible currency in most asian countries, which is why 22K or higher is prefered. |
