11/23   I missed the end of the mp3 discussion and now I'm in need.  Could
        someone send me pointers to a reasonable mp3 player and "get music
        off the cd and onto disc" program for FreeBSD.  For the record, this
        is for a laptop w/o cd so I can listen to cd I already have.

        \_ I use a version of cdd modified to work with ATAPI CD-ROM drives
           under FreeBSD-CURRENT (should work on -STABLE now too).  It
           might be in the ports collection now, but if it isn't let me
           know and I'll email it to you.  You'll also need sox to convert
           it to wav format and 8hz-mp3 to encode from wav to mp3.  mpg123
           is the best console-mode MP3 player. There are numerous ones for
           X11, too, but I haven't found a good one yet.  -brian

           enough for me who has to call international as I cannot use
           their toll-free numbers from Tokyo.  (FYI:  The toll-free
           numbers in US work as toll-free only in US, and the ones in
           Japan work only in Japan.)  Their 24 hours telephone customer

11/23   Could someone please explain the motd RCS, or how to use it?
        \_ if you don't know how to use RCS then the best you can do is
           vi ~mehlhaff/tmp/motd,v and search for whatever you want. RCS
           frontend is just pretty nasty in general.  I don't know how
           to use it myself.  There's CVS which makes RCS quite a bit
           easier to use but it's still pretty nasty.  man CVS.
           \_ Uh you can use 'rlog ~mehlhaff/tmp/motd,v' to look at what
              versions of the motd were when. Then you can check them out
              with 'co -r[version-number]. Works a lot better if you put in
              a symbolic link to the motd,v file into your current directory.
              I suppose I should put in a readme, or, better yet, a web
              interface..  -ERic
