           Kalifornia, ordinary citizens can't get permits to carry guns
           (unless, of course, you are a generous supporter of your local
           sheriff).  Don't take my word for it -- try it for yourself.
           Most counties reject all applications, some won't even give you
           the forms.  Don't worry though -- inanimate objects *can* be
           inherently evil, and the police will always magically appear
           just in time to save you.  There is no reason for you to accept
           responsibility for your own safety.
