10/2 Dec5500 update: Now named Midori, the machine has had a clean
install of the latest Ultrix and appears to be happy. Now the
software team will get to work in earnest, and we should have
it fully functioning soon. -- Marco

10/5 CAL JUST BEAT USC 22-15!!!!!!
        \_ GO BEARS!
        \_ That is unbelievable.
\_ the confidence in our team is unbelievable.
\_ I was listening to the half time show. One of the analyst
said that Cal team is extremely well-coached. We are fortunate
to have such an outstanding coach! And Tony is fabulous tonight!
            -bkong
\_ it's a good thing our coach keeps making opposing teams drop
passes in the end zone and fumble inside the 5. Don't get me
wrong, I like Mooch, but we are still more lucky than good. -tom

10/5 Questions that expect real answers do not belong here
\_ Sure they do - as long as they are intelligent questions
and you have looked for the answer yourself
first. You'll get much farther in this world if you
know how to find infomation on your own, instead of relying
on others to answer all your questions.
\_ Man, thank goodness you're a computer geek, and
           not a teacher. I hope you'll never breed,you hardass.
What's wrong with posting questions here? ToughLove!

10/3 Jobs belong in /usr/local/csua/jobs duuuudes. HotWired has a
        bunch there too :-) -ausman
\_ You too can become the tool of the so called new media.
\_ Easy to say while going to school and getting finanial aid.
You have a better job that pays your rent and lets you live
reasonably well in the real world? Let us know about the job
\_ As a matter of fact, I do have a better job that pays
my rent and lets me live better than reasonably well.
If you're in it for the money, HotWired isn't the place
            to go.
market after you graduate and are wondering what to do with
your excessively idealistic self. A *big* thanks to _everyone_
who is posting jobs in the motd and in .../csua/jobs.
\_ This is not a path.
             No wonder you're unemployed!
             \_ No duh. You obviously
             figured out it was shorthand
for the full path. You *did*
             figure that out, right? And
             no, I'm not unemployed.

10/3 Software engineers needed at The Digital Foundry, Inc. in
Tiburon [Marin County. Not a bad commute from Berkeley]. See
\_ 50 miles to a place with no public transporation isn't
             a bad commute?
\_ That's a terrible commute! Stop driving, start living!

        \_ hahaha!
