12/15 Today, Eva Allen <eva@tekelec.com> wrote in article
        <3cphng$b9j@getty.tekelec.com> on alt.motd:

Second, colnet should continue posting. If you don't like what
colnet posts, don't read it. There's no need to abuse the Internet
when the folks at colnet are clearly following the intent of this
newsgroup while the folks at Berkeley in general clearly are not.

Sheesh. Some people. alt.motd was _created_ by people
at Berkeley (I think I was one of them, can't remember) for
precisely the purpose of posting soda's motd to the
Net at large. These Colnet bozos are just late-coming
        interlopers. --dpassage

\_ Ummmm, a *major* disclaimer. that's not the finished form, and
it was also written WAY late at night -- or way early in the
morning, as the case may be. The conclusion, in particular, is
quite under renovation. So feel free to flame, but realize you're
reading a *very* rough, unfinished version. thanks! --tara

12/14 Someone just stole a back pack from an office in Soda and tried to
steal a power book from another office, but unfortunately got away.
Please be alert to any strangers in the building.

The thief actually walked into an office where someone was working
and picked up the power book. It was retrieved but the person got
away. If you see anyone who looks suspicious, don't give chase but
                                                       \_ shoot them, then
call the campus police immediately at 2-6760. - cogan
