3/6 For those experienced in the installation of Linux: My Xterm won't
work for some display reason. Seems to think that I'm already using
        the display.
\_ who the hell are you? it might be nice to know this, so that
we can get more info/answer your question via email, etc
I for one am not going to post an exhaustive treatise on how
to get X running with at least some idea what's wrong --sowings

3/5 Sparky's. 1am. Be there.
\_ News flash: sparky's food is much tastier when they agree to
           serve you some.
1994/3/6 [Science, Computer/SW/Security] UID:31503 Activity:nil
3/6 New cryptology advance renders DES _insecure_. Read sci.crypt for
more info. Basically a machine like soda can break a 10 char crypt
in about 8 hours. This has SERIOUS security ramifications.
\_This technology is not that new. The U.S. government has not
allowed DES for use with classified documents for years. This would
imply that the government has cracked DES long ago. If the
civilian population has been able to crack it too, I would not
          be surprised.
\_Yeah, and I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you, ya twink.
        \_Nice try.
\_ Actually, I'm not the owner of the account of the person who
wrote this. I broke into his account using the new super-duper
             technology fu thingy.
\_ DES never was secure. They've had DES-cracking LSI chips for at
least a year that simply do an exhaustive search of the key-space
           really fast.

3/5 NAMBLA now has an entire copy of the SUN service manuals. Big CSUA
points to boss and retnuh for helping me copy them. -eric
        \ What's NAMBLA?
\_ Uh, do we have any suns???
\_ How could you not know that weve got several suns in the office!?
\_ Because they look like scrap parts. Do I have account on them?
          \_ what a typical CSUA
              h0zer attitude!
        Quick Clues for the Clueless:
        1) This is the public motd. Everything in it is suspect, including
           this statement.
        2) if anyone tells you to use the "chsh" or "rm" command make sure
you know what the command does first.
        3) Type "man chsh". This will show the MANual entry. For that
matter, use the man command before asking stupid questions.
People on soda tend to flame stupid questions.
        4) There is no such thing as a stupid question.
        5) There is only Zuul.
        6) This whole thing will probably be deleted/flamed
within 5 minutes. This is typical.
        7) That is all. You will be tested.
        8) ARGH! not another test!
        9) Go back and read number one.
\_ you forgot to tell them what "yer mom" is
\_ I got yermom right here pal
\_ you also forgot about cows.
\_you hypocrites, does your mother know where you are?
         \_ go away kchang
